This book is a classic, it is one of those things you will have to read in your lifetime just to say that you did. But no one will have to force you to read it, as once you start, you wont be able to put it down. I recommend this book to anyone who likes drama because this book has plenty, provided by the romances, the quarrels, and the sneaking around behind people's backs. If The Great Gatsby has anything, it's romance. The whole conflict is started after Gatsby is pining after Daisy after Nick invited Daisy to tea, without Tom (Daisy's wife) "I called up daisy the next morning and invited her to tea. Don't bring Tom I warned her" (Fitzgerald 55) This is what keeps the reader interested. Another thing that makes the reader enjoy this book is the quarrels between characters. Notably the quarrel between Tom and Myrtle after myrtle teases Tom about Daisy. When daisy crosses a line, Tom responds by getting in a fight. This was quite a plot twist that i, personally, was not expecting. Also, the amount of betrayal in this book is flawless. Not only does Daisy have an affair with Tom, but that's after Tom has an affair with Myrtle! The amount of back stabbing in that marriage made the book so much better. The book The Great Gatsby was made by the romance, quarrels, and back stabbing.
The Great Gatsby not only has an amazing plot line, but an amazing author as well, the book is made great by the writing style, and the 3rd person narrative to keep the reader interested. The writer is amazing at his job, he uses an incredible amount of fabulous word choice and gorgeous imagery. Also, the 3rd person point of view really keeps the reader interested along with the word choice. "In my younger and more vulnerable years" (Fitzgerald 1) It makes the reader feel like he himself is in the story and that makes it so much more exhilarating. The 3rd person narrative and the imagery and word choice are what make this book so unique and special.
